These early abstractions of newspaper marriage and death notices were taken from Calhoun County, Michigan newspapers prior to the time (1867) when official registration of these events were required in Michigan. Marshall newspapers abstracted include: The Democratic Expounder 1847-1857; The Marshall Statesman 1843-1866; The Western Statesman 1839-1843. Marriages give the names of bride and groom, date and location of marriage, and, sometimes, biographical data. Deaths give name of deceased, date of death and/or burial, age at death, and, sometimes, the parents. Many of the deaths occurred in another state. Softcover. Published in 1997, this book is 180 pages including a full-name index. |
